Scientific Data
Serpin A6 in Mouse Liver. Serpin A6 was detected in perfusion fixed frozen sections of mouse liver using Goat Anti-Mouse Serpin A6 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4065) at 15 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C. Tissue was stained using the Anti-Goat HRP-DAB Cell & Tissue Staining Kit (brown; Catalog # CTS008) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific labeling was localized to the cytoplasm of hepatocytes. View our protocol for Chromogenic IHC Staining of Frozen Tissue Sections.

Background: Serpin A6
Serpin A6 (also known as corticosteroid-binding globulin/CBG and Transcortin) is a 50‑60 kDa, secreted glycoprotein member of the serpin family of protease inhibitors. It is produced by hepatocytes and transports > 90% of circulating cortisol. Although Serpin A6 is a serpin family member, it shows no protease inhibition. Mature mouse Serpin A6 is 375 amino acids (aa) in length. Over aa 23‑397, mouse Serpin A6 shares 78% and 57% aa sequence identity with rat and human Serpin A6, respectively.
