Carrier Free
CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins. Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Scientific Data
When GLP-1 peptide (5374) is immobilized at 0.250 µg/mL (100 µL/well), Recombinant Human GLP-1R His-tag Protein (Catalog # 10956-GL) binds with an ED50 of 5.00-30.0 ng/mL.
2 μg/lane of Recombinant Human GLP-1R His-tag Protein (Catalog # 10956-GL) was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (R) and non-reducing (NR) conditions and visualized by Coomassie® Blue staining, showing bands at 40-50 kDa.

Background: GLP-1R
Glucagon-like Peptide 1 Receptor (GLP1R) is a member of the Class B or secretin receptor-like family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) (1-3). Activation of GLP1R signaling regulates secretion of insulin from pancreatic beta -cells in a glucose-dependent manner (4). Human GLP1R consists of an N-terminal, extracellular domain (ECD) containing 6 conserved cysteine residues and a transmembrane domain with seven membrane-spanning alpha-helices, characteristic of GPCRs (1, 3, 5). The mature ECD of human GLP1R shares 87% and 86% amino acid identity with mouse and rat GLP1R, respectively. GLP1R is expressed in pancreas, lung, heart, kidney, hypothalamus, and stomach and it is a receptor for Glucagon-like Peptide, a regulator of insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells (2, 5, 6). GLP1R agonists, including GLP1, Boc5, and Cpd1, have been targeted for research and used as type 2 diabetes treatments (6, 7). GLP1R is also expressed in the brain where it is involved in the control of appetite (7).
