Detection of Human and Mouse COX‑1 by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line and B16-F10 mouse melanoma cell line. PVDF Membrane was probed with 2 µg/mL of Human COX-1 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB37401) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF007). A specific band was detected for COX-1 at approximately 70 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 2.

Background: COX-1
COX-1 is an approximately 70 kDa protein that is associated with microsomal membranes. COX-1 participates in the synthesis of prostaglandins and is the enzymatic target of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. A splice variant of COX-1 is generated by internal deletion of 37 residues. Human COX-1 shares 88%‑90% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat COX‑1.
