Scientific Data
Detection of Human BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of human kidney tissue, human heart tissue, and human testis tissue. PVDF membrane was probed with a 1:1000 dilution of Rabbit Anti-Human BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF8645) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Rabbit IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF008). A specific band was detected for BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 at approximately 50-60 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1.
BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 in Human Thymus. BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human thymus using Rabbit Anti-Human BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF8645) at a 1:50 dilution overnight at 4 °C. Tissue was stained using the Anti-Rabbit HRP-DAB Cell & Tissue Staining Kit (brown; Catalog # CTS005) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm in endothelial cells. View our protocol for Chromogenic IHC Staining of Paraffin-embedded Tissue Sections.
Detection of Human BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 by Simple WesternTM. Simple Western lane view shows lysates of human kidney tissue, human heart tissue, and human testis tissue, loaded at 0.2 mg/mL. A specific band was detected for BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 at approximately 60 kDa (as indicated) using 1:25 dilution of Rabbit Anti-Human BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF8645). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using the 12-230 kDa separation system.

Background: BTN2A2/Butyrophilin 2A2
Butyrophilin subfamily 2 member A2 (BTN2A2) is a protein encoded by the BTN2A2 gene and is the major protein associated with fat droplets in the
milk. This gene is a member of the BTN2 subfamily of genes, which
encode proteins belonging to the butyrophilin protein family. The gene
is located in a cluster on chromosome 6, consisting of seven genes
belonging to the expanding B7/butyrophilin-like group, a subset of the
immunoglobulin gene superfamily. The encoded protein is a type 1
receptor glycoprotein involved in lipid, fatty-acid and sterol
metabolism. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this
gene have been described.
