* Provided that the recommended microplates, buffers, diluents, substrates and solutions are used, and the assay is run as summarized in the Assay Procedure provided.

This DuoSet ELISA Development kit contains the basic components required for the development of sandwich ELISAs to measure natural and recombinant human CD44 s. The suggested diluent is suitable for the analysis of most cell culture supernate samples. Diluents for complex matrices, such as serum and plasma, should be evaluated prior to use in this DuoSet ELISA.

Background: CD44

CD44 is a ubiquitously expressed receptor for hyaluronan and exerts control over cell growth, migration, and tumor progression. With variable N and O-glycosylation and splicing within the stalk, CD44 can range from 80 to 200 kDa. CD44 binds hyaluronan and other ligands within the extracellular matrix and can function as a “platform” for growth factors and metalloproteinases. It can function as a co-receptor that modifies activity of receptors including Met and the ErbB family tyrosine kinases. The intracellular domain of CD44 links the plasma membrane to the actin cytoskeleton via the ERM proteins, Ezrin, Radixin and Moesin.

The kit provided very nice standard curve, low background, and detect CD44 in human serum. We have not compared to the other CD44 ELISA.
