TUNEL Assays

Assay Principle

View Full Assay Principle

Apoptotic cells can be detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL). R&D Systems offers kits designed for several different formats including Light Microscope-, Fluorescence/Flow Cytometry-, and Microplate Reader-based assays. We also offer colorimetric kits optimized for specific tissue types including Cardiac, Skin, Neuronal, Tumor, and Vascular cells and tissues.

Light & Electron Microscope-based Kits

Immunohistochemistry kits designed to detect apoptosis in fixed cells, embedded tissue, and frozen tissue using light and electron microscopy.

Fluorescence & Flow Cytometry-based Kits

Fluorescence-based kits to detect apoptosis in suspended cells, monolayer cells, embedded tissue, and frozen tissue.

Microplate Reader-based Kits

Kits to detect apoptosis in samples of suspended cells or cell monolayers using a microplate reader.

Tissue Type-Specific Colorimetric Kits

Kits specifically optimized for detection of apoptotic cells in cardiac, skin, neuronal, cancer, and vascular tissue.
