New Adipokine and Myokine Recombinant Proteins

Adipokines and myokines are secreted proteins that exert their effects in an autocrine and endocrine manner. They may be upregulated during exercise and thus may regulate energy homeostasis. Other roles for these proteins include regulation of body weight, changes in insulin sensitivity, and modulation of inflammatory cytokine production, glucose uptake, and fatty acid oxidation.

C1q/TNF Family

Adiponectin, TNF-alpha, CTRP, and other proteins with C1q domains are collectively grouped together as the C1q/TNF superfamily. CTRP proteins are increasingly recognized for roles in metabolism and inflammation.

Meteorin-like

A novel adipokine with potential regulatory roles in energy metabolism and osteoblast differentiation.

Irisin

A myokine with putative roles in regulating the browning response in white adipose tissue and in bone metabolism.

Competitor comparison of Irisin-induced p38 Phosphorylation. 3T3-L1 preadipocytes were incubated with 1 µg/ml of Recombinant Human Irisin (Catalog # 8880-IR) for 15 minutes. The cells were lysed and a Western blot were performed with anti-phospho p38 MAPK and total p38 MAPK antibodies. Experiments are shown in duplicate.
